STEP 1 - WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE A DRIVING INSTRUCTOR?
Before you start, you must ask yourself:
“Why do I want to be a Driving Instructor?”
Some of you will already know why; to run your own business or work more flexibly. To earn more or be more secure.
If you are not sure yet, but like the idea and would like to learn more, take a look around this site and we will try to answer all of your questions and tell you all about this industry and the Job.
The training and tests are not hard and most people actually enjoy it, but you will need to work hard.
STEP 2 - LEGAL PROCESS
This is in 3 steps and can be done as you study:
1. Check list
2. Criminal Records Bureau (DBS) check
3. DVSA registration
STEP 3 - DVSA TESTS
The DVSA ADI Examination process to become a Driving Instructor is in 3 parts:
1) Theory and Hazard Perception;
2) Driving Ability;
3) Instructional Ability.
You must pass all 3 tests to become a fully qualified Driving Instructor.
STEP 4 - TRAINING FOR THE TESTS
There are lots of companies out there that can train you to become a Driving Instructor.
And all companies will cover the DVSA syllabus to prepare you for the DVSA ADI Examination process.
